A nursing Officer and midwife attached to Anaka Hospital in Nwoya district has succumbed to Covid-19.
Auma Jenesther died at 5:30am this morning from the coronavirus treatment center at Gulu Regional Referral hospital where she was admitted.
Okello Isaac Wonyima, the Nwoya Assistant District Health Officer confirmed the death.
Wonyima has now asked health workers to take COVID-19 seriously and get vaccinated.
Meanwhile, Bishop Loum, the Regional Coronavirus Taskforce Coordinator and head of surveillance has said that majority of the 147 people who tested positive for covid-19 in the last 24 hours are mild cases.
The 147 who were tested at Gulu University’s Laboratory on Wednesday and Thursday are students and pupils who returned from schools in Kampala and community members.
Loum who was speaking last evening said that the patients will be monitored from home.
