Two Arrested For Lynching Suspected Chicken Thief

Rape Suspect Beaten In Gulu

Police in Omoro District have arrested two people in connection with the alleged murder of a suspected chicken thief.

Michael Opira aged 41 and David Onuru aged 34, both residents of Te-Tugu village, Ongako Sub County in Omoro District were picked by police following the murder of one, Benson Oyite.

They are being detained at Omoro Central Police Station for questioning in relation to the murder incident. A case of murder by a mob has been registered at Omoro Central Police Station under CRB Number 306/2021.

The victim was reportedly attacked by angry residents on Tuesday afternoon at around 2PM on suspicion of stealing chicken. He died while being rushed to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for medical attention by police. His body is still lying at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem.

David Ongom Madong, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson confirmed the report, adding that police are still hunting for more suspects in connection with the alleged murder incident
