There was drama at Lakwor primary school in Kitgum district on Wednesday after a teacher and a cook traded accusations at each other over the disappearance of 20kgs of beans from the school store.

Amos Kidega, the teacher and Paska Lanyero the Cook) each blamed the other for the loss of the beans during a dialogue meeting organized by Adventist Development Relief Agency-ADRA to address the challenges facing learning in Lakwor Primary School.

This was after Brian Omara, a P6 pupil of the school disclosed that they were not being fed prompting William Komakech, the Resident District Commissioner to ask Jacob Mugoya, the acting school head teacher to explain the abrupt stop of the school feeding program.

Mugoya said the feeding program was suspended after parents refused to take beans and posho to school in anger over the missing beans.

In his defense, Kidega said that he was not at school when the beans went missing and that he had left the key with the cook Lanyero who said that she gave the key to Kidega’s wife.

The RDC then tasked the school head teacher to handle the matter administratively and resume the school feeding program.

He also asked parents not to give up on the termly contribution of beans and maize saying it’s for the betterment of learning.
