Police in Kitgum District are holding a man for assaulting his wife to death in Panyum Central Village, Mucwini Sub County.
The suspect-Joel Okot allegedly beat his wife-Monica Anena aged 35 on the head using a stick-on Monday.
Police reports say that on the fateful day, Okot went to a drinking joint and retuned home at around 10:00 pm to find their young child crying with his wife nowhere to be seen.
The report says that upon her return shortly, Okot beat her on the head with a stick and she collapsed and bled to death.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident saying the suspect has been arrested and is in custody at Kitgum Central Police Station.
Okema said that police has recorded statements from relevant witnesses adding that the body was handed over to relatives for burial after a postmortem was done.
