A primary six pupil in Kitgum district on Saturday committed suicide allegedly after his father refused to buy for him scholastic requirements.
Daniel Comboni Onencan (20), a primary six pupil at Lakwor Primary school and a resident of Adinga village in Lalano Sub-County Kitgum district, committed suicide by hanging himself on a tree in a nearby bush.
Bosco Cankura Ongom, the Lalano sub-country chairperson, says that the deceased allegedly had a misunderstanding with the father identified as David Onekalit before the incident.
According to reports, the father allegedly refused to buy for the deceased scholastic materials citing his poor performance in school.
Schools in Uganda fully reopened Monday morning, almost two years after the coronavirus pandemic started.
This has been one of the world longest closures since the virus forced governments to close learning institutions back in March 2020.
