Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development on Wednesday launched the construction of multi-million shillings infrastructure at Purongo Primary School in Nwoya district.
The infrastructure includes two classroom blocks, four teachers’ housing units and a five-stance pit latrine.
The construction being undertaken by Beru Uganda limited for eight months is part of Karumah hydro power project community development action plan.
Odong Boniface Ochan, the school head teacher called on the minister to also support the renovation of existing classroom blocks which are now dilapidated.
Nankabirwa who promised to follow up on the request asked locals to desist from defiling and impregnating school girls who are currently at home due to the lockdown.
Established in 1956, Purongo primary school has a total of 716 learners.
