Gulu city authority has finally received the long waited garbage trucks for garbage management in the city.
The five new trucks were procured from Thailand by the German Government to help in addressing poor garbage management in the city.
Moses Otimong, the Gulu city town clerk, says the new trucks are expected to commence work immediately after they are commissioned.
Garbage management in Gulu City has become a challenge generally because of the regular breakdown of garbage trucks and the high costs to repair and maintain. According to a statistics, Gulu City generates an average of 120 tons of garbage daily but can collect only a quarter of the garbage generated.
