A man in Laliya dwol cell, Bardege-Layibi division in Gulu city has assaulted his girlfriend to death before committing suicide over yet unclear reasons.
51-year old man Alfred Ocan, a plumber reportedly used an axe to fatally hit his girlfriend Agnes Acayo Auzu on the head inside his house at around 10:00pm last night.
Acayo is a second year student of Education and Humanities at Gulu University.
Acaye Richard Burton, the Local Council One chairperson Laliya dwol cell says the couple started fighting from a drinking joint but were stopped.
They went to Ocan’s home where they locked the door and continued with the fight.
Acaye said that police went to the area in the morning and broke the door only to find the couple dead and took the bodies to Gulu Regional Referral hospital maturity for postmortem.
David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River Region Police spokesperson confirmed the incident.
