Noose

A 20-year-old man identified as Calvin Odongo has committed suicide in Apac district after he was intercepted for cattle theft.

The resident of Chegere Sub County, Apac district committed suicide at around 8:30pm yesterday after being intercepted by the local leaders of Abongodani village in Chegere Sub County.

It’s alleged that Odongo was intercepted by Tonny Onguta, the L.C 1 Chairperson Abongodani village and his defense secretary Ogwal Leone in possession of stolen cattle. They detained him at Onguta’s home where he committed suicide while the local leaders were out calling police.

Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kyoga police spokesperson says Onguti and Ogwal have been detained at Abongdano police station to help in the investigation since they detained the suspect Odongo and kept him in a non gazetted detention facility.

Odongo’s body has been taken to Lira Regional Referral hospital for a postmortem before it can be handed to his family for burial.
