St Jude Children’s Home in Bar-Dege-Layibi Division in Gulu City has come to the rescue of a teenage mother whose husband abandoned her at the hospital after delivering preterm triplets.
Barbra Acayo, a resident of Laconga village, Bungatira Sub County in Gulu District delivered the premature babies, two girls and a boy on March 6, 2021, from Gulu Regional Referral Hospital.
The Children’s Home came to the rescue of Acayo after Mega FM, aired the story on March 23, 2021.
Josephine Ogweta, the Deputy Director St Jude Children’s Home said the mother and the newborns will be supported until when they are 7- months-old.
Dr Florence Oyella Otim, the In- Charge Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital welcomed the support by the Children’s Home saying it will go a long way to improve on the health of the premature babies.
