At least seven players and fans for Ajono football club, a local club in Arua district, have perished in a road accident on Sunday evening.
The accident occurred at around 8:00pm after a Fuso truck carrying them overturned at Ediofe trading Center in Arua district. Several others sustained injuries and were rushed to Arua Regional Referral hospital.
The victims were heading home after a friendly football match against Oreku football club.
Onama Bosco, the Federation Uganda football Association (FUFA) delegate for Arua confirmed the report and blamed the accident on overloading.
