The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, Frank Tumwebaze has directed top leaders in Gulu to identify and protect all government land.
Tumwebaze notes that negligence by district leaders has seen government battle in court with individuals who have encroached on government land and even acquired fake land titles.
The minister who was on Thursday meeting different stakeholders at Gulu Arch diocese in Bardege-Layibi Division, Gulu City said protecting government land will help in establishment of factories, mechanization centres and demonstration farms among others.
He said its the duty of district leaders like Mayor, L.C V Chairperson, Resident District Commissioners-RDCs to reclaim and protect government land in the district.
Tumwebaze observed that the Catholic church has been successful in protecting its land and resources because they are disciplined and always thinking development.
