Gulu District is in the process of establishing a multi-million shillings older persons centre to care for the most vulnerable and abandoned older persons.
According to statistics, Gulu District has a population of over 15,000 older persons.
Anna Grace Akot, the Community Development Officer in charge of Persons with Disabilities and older persons says that there are so many older persons who have been abandoned within the community by either their children and caregivers.
According to Akot, the centre will provide home or shelter to the affected persons and rehabilitation amenities for older persons.
