Four Arrested in Amuru With Stolen Solar Panels

Authorities in Amuru district have arrested 4 people in connection with the stealing of 19 solar panels from Parabongo water plant in Amuru district.

The water plant, funded by the World Bank at a tune of 800 million was established some two years ago to pump water to Parabongo trading centre.

The four have been identified as Victor Loum, the LCI chairperson of Odur village, Mark Omaka, the LCII Coke Parish, Onung Tungtwe, the LCIII councilor of Coke Parish and Nickson Okot, the chairperson business community Parabongo trading centre.

They were picked up Monday morning from their respective homes.

Geoffrey Oceng Osborn, the Deputy RDC Amuru district says the suspects who are being detained at Awer Police Post in Lamogi Sub County were picked up after some community members saw the stolen panels in their respective houses prompting a search in their houses.

According to Oceng, upon a search, they found 6 solar panels in the house of Onung, 3 in the house of Okot and 1 in the house of Loum, the LCI chairperson.
