A 13-year-old boy has drowned in a murram quarry site in Opelom village in Paicho Sub County, Gulu district.
Ivan Opiyo who was herding cattle, drowned at around 7:00pm in the quarry site which was filled with stagnant water, according to reports.
David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River Region Police spokesperson says Opiyo accidentally fell into the stagnant water and died while grazing his father’s cattle.
Mudong added that the body was retrieved from the stagnant water and is pending postmortem before being handed over to the family for burial.
This now brings to eight, the numbers of deaths by drowning in Aswa River region in eight days.
