A surgical theatre Assistant at Dr Ambrossoli Memorial Hospital Kalongo in Agago district has been arrested over theft of drugs and assorted theatre instruments.
Opio Simon Peter aged 35 was arrested over the theft of various items including surgical gloves, surgical blades, a metallic bed, a tin each of hydrogen peroxide and Iodine among others.
Dr. Geoffrey Smart Okot, the director Dr. Ambrossoli Memorial Hospital confirmed the incident saying various drugs and theatre instruments were recovered from Opio’s home.
Dr. Okot says the hospital has been experiencing drug stock out due to theft by some hospital staff.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson confirmed that Opio is in police custody at Kalongo Police Station waiting to be presented before the court of law.
