The Ministry of Health has received the first batch of Covid-19 vaccines.
The 864,000 doses of Astrazeneca Covid-19 vaccines will be first given to front-line workers and at-risk categories.
The vaccines were manufactured by Serum Institute of India and procured under the Covax facility.
According to Jane Ruth Acheng the Ugandan minister of health, in a tweet, the vaccine arrived in the country at 2:00 PM today.
Earlier in February, the Ministry of Health and the National Medicines Stores (NMS) had announced that an order of 18 million doses of the AstraZeneca had been placed to Serum Institute of India to be used to vaccinate people above 50 years of age, as well as people with underlying health conditions, health workers, security personnel, teachers and other essential social service providers.
