Sex for marks, tribal sexual harassment, compliment of dress code and bad touches top Gulu university sexual harassment cases, according to the latest report.
According to the findings 23% of students had experience sexual harassment where nine are male and 19 are female.
The trend of sexual harassment also indicates there is lecturers to junior lecturer’s sexual harassment, students to students and management to juniors.
However, it was noted that majority talk about it after they have left the university.
According to Dr Amon Ashaba Mwine, a consultant, sexual harassment cases at Gulu University is silence and ends at corridor talks.
Now, Gulu University vice-chancellor Prof Openjuru George Ladaah is asking the students and staff community to report such cases so that the vice is addressed.
Early this year, Makerere University suspended three members of its academic staff for alleged sexual harassment against female students.
Although Makerere has a “zero tolerance” policy on sexual harassment, there have been several cases of sexual harassment and sexual assaults in the past few months.
