Districts in Acholi sub region are yet to access funds disbursed to districts to boost the fight against Covid-19.
This follows a directive by President Museveni that the Ministry of Local Government should provide the necessary support and facilitation to regional and district Covid-19 taskforces to revitalise the response at community level.
Mr Raphael Magyezi, the Minister for Local Government, said each district is getting Shs216 million, and each municipality, city is getting Shs100 million.
However, Odong Stephen Latek, the Gulu Resident district commissioner says the district is yet to access the funds.
Geoffrey Osborn Oceng, the Amuru Resident district commissioner says he believes the district will be able to access the funds by the end of this week.
According to the government guidelines, each village health team (VHT) is getting Shs300,000 as payment for July-September, each village committee will be paid Shs100,000 and the balance is for vehicle maintenance, allowances, surveillance, and laboratory operation among others.
