Two meat sellers at Lacor trading center in Bardege-Layibi division, Gulu City were last evening arrested over theft of animals.
The suspects are Kidega Tuesday-who owns a meat shop and Oringa Erick-his employee at the shop.
It’s alleged that Oringa was intercepted from Ongako Sub County in Omoro district with three bulls that he allegedly stole from Bobbi Sub County and was transporting them to his boss-Kidega in Lacor trading center.
A police officer attached to Bobbi police post says the owner of the stolen bulls identified as Nelson Ocaya together with some community members traced Oringa and intercepted him in Owek-Labora village in Ongako Sub County who later led them to Kidega.
He added that both Kidega and Oringa are now under police custody in Bobbi police post waiting to be transferred to Omoro central police station.
According to section 264 of the Uganda penal code act, the suspects could face imprisonment of 7-years if they are first time offenders and 15 years if they are repeat offenders.
