A robbery attempt of a brand new motorcycle at Akonyi-bedo village, Laroo-Pece division in Gulu city was on Thursday night foiled by a group of youth.
Three unknown gunmen who were riding a numberless motorcycle reportedly trailed the unsuspecting would be victim at around 10:00pm.
Upon reaching Akonyi-bedo trading center, some youth saw the three gunmen trailing the rider and quickly alerted the unidentified rider to speed up and escape.
Reports say the youths armed with machetes and arrows quickly mobilized and pursued the gunmen who aborted their mission after firing two bullets to scare the youth.
James Lacere, the L.C 1 Chairperson Akonyi bedo village said they recovered the cartridges which they were going to hand over to police to help trace the suspects.
David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson was unavailable for a comment when contacted.
Over 10 motorcycles have been robbed by gunmen in a space of a month in Gulu city.
