President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has reiterated his earlier promise to scrap off charges levied on parents in institutions implementing government’s universal education once he is re-elected in the 2021 General Election.
The President says that although 10.7 million children are enrolled for primary education, only 3 million transit to secondary school.
The President made the promised today while campaigning in Gulu.
He also promised to allocate more funds to the road sector, hitting at the Uganda Road Funds for misappropriating funds at the center. According to the President, the road sector gets more than 168 billion shilling annually of which each district is supposed to get more a billion shillings but very little is sent to the district.
The President also threatened to sack RDCs and CAOs who fail to make sure that broken boreholes in their areas of jurisdiction are repaired. He asked the locals to report to State House Anti-corruption unit cases of broken boreholes not repaired in their localities so that the line officers are held accountable.
