Police in Amuru district on Sunday night recovered the body of a man who drowned in Unyama River in Elegu Town Council, Amuru District.
The victim has been identified as William Irama, aged 33, and a resident of Adjumani district. The deceased left home on the 30th July, 2020.
Unconfirmed reports say the deceased drowned while trying to cross the flooded river into South Sudan illegally.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa River region Police Spokesperson has confirmed the incident adding that the body was handed over to his family for burial.
This brings to three cases of people drowning in River Unyama in an attempt to illegally cross to South Sudan since the beginning of the year.
