Grief engulfed residents of Pabbo Quarters Cell in Bar-Dege- Layibi Division in Gulu City after a 28-year-old woman took her own life after quarreling with her boyfriend.
Prosy Atim died from Gulu Regional Referral Hospital in the early hours of Monday morning at around 3AM, where she was admitted in critical condition.
Police preliminary investigation report indicates that she ingested organophosphate, a toxic chemical widely used in agriculture as a pesticide.
Police has also picked samples for further toxicology tests at the Government Analytical Laboratory in Kampala.
Earlier on, it was suspected that the victim was assaulted by unknown people since she was bleeding.
According Raymond Opira, the Chairperson Local Council One Pabbo Cell, the victim got angry after she found her boyfriend identified as Denis Tolit with another woman enjoying themselves in a local drinking joint.
