Three motorcycles were on Wednesday stolen from Gulu Main Market when their owners were busy shopping.
The motorcycles include a bajaj boxer UED 532F belonging to Okello Martin- a resident of Koch lutuk, UED 735Y belonging to Odong Francis- a resident of Koro lapiny oloyo and UEO 362Z belonging to Okello Sam- a resident of Layibi center.
Simon Wokorach, the vice chairperson, Gulu City boda-boda association says there is need for the market authorities to secure parked motorcycles.
Wokorach says the market authorities can charge a fee to ensure that shoppers can carry out purchases in peace.
27 motorcycles have so far been stolen from members of Gulu City boda boda association since January and only five have been recovered.
Meanwhile, a boda-boda motorcyclist is being held by police in Gulu for conniving with thieves to steal motorcycles.
David Komakech, a resident of Layibi go-down in Bardege-Layibi division in Gulu city was arrested last Thursday following a tip off.
Three stolen motorcycles and three goats were recovered from the suspect’s house during a joint operation by police and Gulu City boda-boda association.
Moses Ogwang, the Gulu central police station community liaison officer confirmed the arrest saying Komakech is still in custody.
