FDC’s Akena Jamisco Wins Awach Sub County By-Elections

Akena Jamisco Richard of Forum for Democratic Change-FDC has emerged winner of the Awach Sub county chairperson by-election held yesterday.

Akena polled 581 votes to beat four other candidates.

Otema Morrish-the National Resistance Movement candidate got 434 and independent candidate Ojok Richard got 236 votes while Independent candidate Otika Shanon Akena and Opiro David poled 114 votes and 92 votes respectively.

Ronald Agaba, the Gulu district Electoral Commission returning officer says the election was free and fair.

Just 1,442 out of the 5,166 registered voters cast their ballots.

Akena Jamisco Richard was previously the councilor 5 Awach Sub County from 2006-2011 but lost the seat in 2016 general elections.

His attempt to return as councilor five in the last general elections however failed.
