Police has created new command units in Gulu City and Gulu district and posted to it new unit commanders.
The new command units include Gulu district with its headquarters at Awach Sub County, Pece-Laroo Division with its headquarters at the former Gulu central police station and Bar-dege-Layibi division. Its headquarters yet to be decided.
The Assistant Superintendent of police Swaibe Taban is the new Gulu district Police Commander, Byomugabe Konrad is the new Division Police Commander for Bar-dege-Layibi division and Ocen Peter Orstin, the former Gulu district police commander is the Division Commander for Pece-Laroo Division.
Stephen Kaija, the Acting Aswa River Region Police Commander (RPC) says they found it wise to create regional commands in the City to respond to the urban population explosion and its challenges.
At least 63 police constables were equally deployed in the 11 different administrative areas that include Pader, Omoro, Nwoya, Amuru, Agago, Kitgum, Lamwo and Gulu District, and Gulu City.
Meanwhile Kitgum District has also received new District Police Commander, the Assistant Superintendent of Police Mansul Suwede. He replaces Eyaku Tommy who has been taken to Human Resource Department at the Police headquarters in Kampala.
