Package on Dominic Ongwen

Dominic Ongwen

Dominic Ongwen, the former senior Commander of the Uganda’s rebel group, the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) was among the over 60,000 young boys and girls who were abducted from northern Uganda between 1987 and 2006.

US based advocacy group, Human Rights Watch (HRW) in its 2007 report noted that children in northern Uganda are the victims of atrocious human rights violations of a severity that is difficult to imagine, and the actions of the Lord’s Resistance Army violate the most basic principles both of customary international law and of human morality.

Kony abducted children for military purposes, sexual slavery and porters, according to Human Rights Watch (HRW).

In this radio feature, I James Owich will retrace the footsteps of Dominic Ongwen, more than 25 years after he was abducted while on his way to school and the long journey to The Hague.
