Hundreds Treated As UPDF Mark 39th Tarehe Sita Anniversary

Hundreds have benefited from free medical camp and other community services organized by Uganda People’s Defense Forces-UPDF across the country as part of the Tarehe Sita celebration, which is commemorated on February 6th.

In Kasese, the army participated in various activities which included cleaning of institutions, urban centres, tree planting, and medical camps.

In Arua district, took part in a cleaning exercise in Arua Municipality.

In Magamaga town council in Jinja district, over 300 people benefited from free malaria screening, hepatitis B vaccination, immunization of children below five years, sensitisation on primary health care and proper nutrition.

In Gulu district, the UPDF cleaned among other places Gulu central business districts and hospitals as part of the celebrations.

The UPDF 4th division army spokespersons Maj. Ceaser Olweny asked Gulu Municipal authority to make it a routine to clean Gulu town.

Tarehe sita celebrated every 6th February signifies the day the National Resistance Army launched an attack on Kabamba Barracks.

The 39th Tarehe Sita anniversary Main celebrations was today held on at Butalangu Grounds – Nakaseke District.

President Yoweri Museveni leading a six day trek code-named Africa Kwetu It started on Saturday, January 4, 2020.

The area was chosen because of the special historical role the people played during the 1981-1986 protracted peoples’ struggle to Liberate Uganda.

The celebrations is being held under the theme “Consolidating the UPDF strategic partnership with the people to guard gains of liberation.”
