An Eritrean truck driver who tested positive for Covid-19 was this morning intercepted in Amuru district by police
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa River region Police Spokesperson said that Solomon Asghedom Abraham aged 58 was intercepted at Bibia road check point while driving vehicle registration number KBF 988R at around 6:00 am.
He said the driver entered Uganda yesterday from Malaba border point and reached Elegu at 6:00am today.
Okema said a team from Gulu Regional Referral hospital picked him at midday from the isolation room in Elegu One stop border point and took him to the COVID-19 treatment centre at Gulu Referral hospital adding that 5 people who had contact with him have been identified and were to be taken to Pabbo quarantine centre.
Doctor Patrick Odong Olwedo, the Amuru District Health Officer confirmed the report.
This brings to 2 the number of truck drivers admitted at Gulu regional referral hospital with COVID-19.
