St Phillips Health Center III in Gulu Gets Face Lift

Newly commissioned maternity ward at St Phillip Health Centre 111

There is excitement in Kanyagoga C Cell, Bar-dege-Layibi Division in Gulu City following the commissioning of the newly refurbished maternity ward at St Phillips Health center II to boost health care service delivery to the community.

The maternity ward was refurbished with funding from Pride Micro-Finance at a tune of Uganda shilling 120 million.

The refurbishment includes the expansion and installation of solar lights, provision of equipment including 6 mattresses, 2 weighing scales (one for adults and one for infants), a 50 seater tent, 10 benches and installation of two water tanks.

Deo Kateizi, the Head of Business Development and Marketing at Pride Micro-Finance Uganda said they were touched following a report released by the World Health Organisation in 2016 which indicates that only 365 of rural mothers had access to well-equipped maternal facilities in Uganda.

St Phillips Health Centre II which was constructed 60 years, serves the communities of Kanyagoga, Patuda, Custom Corner, Kirombe, For-god, Layibi, Lacor and Mican among others.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony on Tuesday Right Rev Bishop Godfrey Loum, of the Diocese of Northern Uganda thanked Pride Micro-finance for the support.
