Francis Komakech who in his late 20’s has been popularly known by his stage name Huni Bizzo Man, drowned on Tuesday evening while swimming across River Pager to his home.
The incident happened in Laraba village in Labongo Amida Sub county. The deceased was a resident of Tumangu village in Labongo Akwang Sub county according to local leaders.
Richard Ocitti, the LCI Bongo-Laku ward in Tumangu village told Uganda Radio Network on Wednesday that the deceased had earlier been in Kitgum municipality recording his music.
He says Komakech who was in the company of a friend after recording his music and left for home but notes that at about 4pm when they reached Pager river, they found the water level had increased.
Ocitti adds that Komakech even after being advised not to cross the river insisted on crossing citing that he needed to visit his sick child at home. He however says the strong water current swept him before he could reach the other side of the river adding that his body hasn’t yet been retrieved.
The musician becomes the second victim to drown in the river in a space less than two months. In July this year, an enrolled nurse identified as Robert Akiki who was working at St Joseph Hospital Kitgum drowned in the river while attempting to cross to his garden.
