Over 70 Students of Bethel Secondary school in Amuru district last night survived death after unknown person set their dormitory on fire in a second arson attack on the school in barely two weeks.
The assailants allegedly gained access into the school at around 8:00 Pm when students were in class for night reading and set the dormitory on fire destroying all students’ property.
The school guard who was at the gate was reportedly shocked to see the dormitory on fire.
Francis Lamony, the Head teacher of the school said they are living in fear of the lives.
Police who went to the scene, recorded statements from school authorities.
When contacted over the matter Joseph Nsabimana, the Amuru District Police Commander was unable to comment saying he was still in a meeting.
It’s suspected that students who were expelled from the school in June for burning the head teacher’s house could be behind the attacks.
At least 20 fire incidents have been reported in several schools around the country in the last 7 months.
