President Yoweri Museveni is insisting on absolutely free education in all the government aided schools across the country.
President Museveni says free education will lift disadvantaged Ugandans out of poverty.
He told journalists in Kampala on Saturday that it is only through free education for that families can engage in the money economy and wealth creation.
According to the president, for the country to achieve prosperity, there is need to stop charging children school fees.
He was also critical of school administrators in government aided school who charge children fees.
He noted that this has resulted into 70 percent of learners from poor families dropping out of school.
The president described such individuals oppose to his free education policy as parasites.
