A 27-year-old woman was this morning arrested for dumping her 2-days old baby boy in a pit latrine in Layibi central A and B, Laroo-Pece division in Gulu city.
The suspect has been identified as Medina Alal, a resident of Tegwana cell also in Laroo-Pece Division.
Police says that Alal decided to dump the infant into the latrine on Tuesday after her sister identified as Susan Aol refused to welcome her with the new born into her home.
Jimmy Patrick Okema- the Aswa River Region police spokesperson told Mega FM that Alal will be charged with attempted murder adding that she admitted to dumping the baby in the latrine at 7:00 PM on the fateful evening.
Alal was apprehended by residents who handed her to local authorities who then handed her to police.
The baby boy who was fortunately rescued by police and local authorities is still admitted at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital where he is being treated.
