A 62-year old man has committed suicide in Pader district in anger after his son requested him for a piece of land to build a house for his mother.
Raymond Akena, a resident of Atanga is said to have drank unidentified poisonous substance on Saturday after his son from his second wife with whom they had divorced sometime back asked for land to build a house for his mother.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson said that Akena died on Sunday from Atanga health center III where he was rushed for treatment.
Okema said there is a need for religious and cultural leaders to intervene to reduce suicide which is registered daily in the region.
This brings to over 20 cases, the number of suicides registered in Aswa region since the beginning of this year.
