Nwoya-The Local Government Minister Raphael Magyezi has intervened in a feud between a section of Nwoya District councilors and the Resident District Commissioner, Christopher Omara.
This follows complaints raised by the councilors through their Alero Sub-County counterpart, Kenneth Odong demanding the removal of Omara from Office.
On Monday, Odong moved a private member’s motion during a full council meeting demanding the appointing authority to take action against Omara on grounds of non-corporation, undermining political and technical leaders, and corruption.
However the Nwoya District Council Speaker, Tony didn’t allow councilors to debate the motion citing minimal evidence tabled by the mover of the motion. He instead deferred the matter until March 31, 2023.
In his March 13th, 2023 letter addressed to Odong Magyezi advised the councilors to withdraw their motion on the removal of Omara from office.
Magyezi also noted that he will visit the district on March 31 and meet all the district councilors and heads of departments.
However, Omara refuted the allegations and instead accused the mover of the motion of fighting him for his hard stance on corruption.
