Uganda National Meteorological Authority-UNMA has warned that Acholi Sub region will be hit by severe flash floods.
According to the weather report released on Wednesday, the onset of seasonal rains is expected around late-March to early-April in Northern parts of the country with near normal to below normal rainfall over several parts of the country.
The report further said the onset is likely to be characterized by thunderstorms associated with strong winds, lightning and hailstorms over several parts of the country.
Among the district in Acholi to be severely hit with flash floods include Gulu, Omoro, Amuru, Nwoya and parts of Kitgum District.
George William Oumony, the Manager Forecasting Services at Uganda national Meteorological Authority has advised farmers to work with the agricultural department for guidance on the appropriate crops to plant to avoid losing them to floods.
