There was a somber mood this afternoon in Pece Vanguard Cell, Laroo-Pece division in Gulu City as Tony Evans Kilama, the 4-Year Old boy who was stabbed to death by his mother last weekend, was laid to rest.
Kilama, a K2 pupil of Pece school road nursery and primary school died on Saturday March 11, 2023 at around 12:00pm after being stabbed several times on the chest and ribs by his mother, Cathy Ayaa.
Ayaa reportedly committed the offence after accusing her husband of having an extra-marital affair.
Ayaa aged 30, also stabbed her three months old daughter, Atim Precious eight times before turning the knife on herself.
Atim who was discharged from hospital today was present at her brother’s burial also attended by her father, Opio James.
Their mother who was discharged from Gulu Regional Hospital is currently detained at Gulu Central Police Station on charges of murder.
Margaret Arach, a catechist at Holy Family Catholic Church while speaking at the burial urged people to always open up to their friends when they are going through difficult times so that they are helped to avoid such incidents.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s grandfather Bosco Uhuru told mourners that his grandson died a forceful and painful death in the hands of his mother.
Aswa River Region recorded 216 cases of homicide, according to the Police Annual Crime Report 2022.
