Two people were yesterday arrested in Gulu for defrauding over 49 million shillings from over 70 youths.
Paul Mbeyagala and Francis Opiyo are employees of Alliance in Motion Global (Aim Global), a network marketing group.
They are accused of taking between 700,000 to 800,000 shillings from the youth promising that they would earn monthly interest of 400,000 shillings and would also receive training in network marketing.
The youth who were recruited from Nwoya, Amuru, Gulu Napak, Abim, Kotido, Moroto and some districts in Lango are now stranded in Gulu with no food as they have not been paid.
Monica Ajwang and Ocen Kenneth who were also conned said it’s been over two months now but the organization has not yet delivered on its promises.
Mr Lapolo has also ordered for the arrest of all AIM Global officials within the district until the case is solved by police. Denis Kalinassi, one of the directors at AIM Global confirmed that the two suspects are their employees.
Meanwhile, Ojara Martin Mapenduzi says he has informed the respective L.C V chairpersons to make arrangements to transport the stranded youths back home.
