UWA Spends 800 Dollars Treating Injured Animal

By Tracy Aciro

Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has revealed that the costs of treating wild animals injured by poachers is becoming unffordable.

According to the conservation agency, treating an elephant injured by a snare set by illegal hunters inside the park requires around US$ 800 (approximately UGX 2.9 Million).

Dr. Margret Driciru, a Veterinary Doctor working at Murchison Falls National Park says the agency is spending a lot of money to provide care to injured wild animals.

She also warned that the cost of providing treatment to wild animals is likely to increase if the vice does not stop.
