A 27-year old man was on Sunday arrested for being in possession of UPDF uniform and using it to extort money from the public in Nwoya and Amuru districts.
Rubangakene Genesis Twero alias Otto, a resident of Opok village, Gwengdia parish in Lamogi Sub county, Amuru district is accused of extorting money from vendors at Bardege market in Alero sub county and Cwara-onguka market in Amuru district claiming that he is a member of the corona virus task force.
Okeny Paul Lawang, the local council three chairperson of Alero Sub County told Mega FM that the suspect was arrested at around 11:00am and first held at Alero Police post before being transferred to the 4th Division army barracks in Gulu.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson confirmed the report saying the case is being managed by army at the 4th Division.
