UPDF cited in Got Okwara land conflict

The Minister of lands, Housing and Urban Development Betty Amongin Ongom has ordered members of the Uganda People’s Defense Force-UPDF to immediately evacuate a contested piece of land at Got Okwara village in Got-Apwoyo Sub County, Nwoya district.
The soldiers were allegedly deployed at the contested land by a lady identified as Aber Harriet who is a party to the land conflict.
Others claiming ownership of the same land were identified as Samuel Ojok and Augustine Odong.
During a meeting held on Monday at the district council Hall, The Minister also ordered Aber to refrain from using members of the UPDF to settle land conflict.
However, Aber in her respond says she acquired the land from one Ogenga Latek-Odong in 2007, adding that the complainants are just squatters.
