UPDF Cautions Youth On Alcoholism As Recruitment Nears
Youth contending to join the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) have been cautioned to scale down on alcohol consumption this festive season.
The nationwide recruitment exercise will take place on December 27th to 5th January 2020.
The recruitment exercise will be conducted across the country at district headquarters.
It targets unmarried Ugandan nationals aged between 18-25 with a valid National Identification Card, good character, medical fitness certification and the relevant education certifications.
For Gulu, Amuru, Nwoya and Omoro is on December 29th in Gulu, Kitgum and Lamwo is on December 30 and Pader and Lamwo on December 31.
However, Maj Caesar Olweny, the UPDF 4th Division spokesperson told Mega FM that only those who are physically fit and of good health shall be recruited.
UPDF says numbers from each district shall depend on the population of the area as guided by the population census.
According to UPDF, the exercise is to fill gaps in the force which have been caused by deaths, injuries and retirements.
