The UPDF Bomb squad has camped in East Acholi Sub region to carry out demining work for the next three months.
William Komakech, the Kitgum Resident District Commissioner said the team that arrived on Monday will carry out removal and detonation of unexploded ordinances.
This follows over 100 discoveries of unexploded ordinances in the four districts of East Acholi which include Kitgum, Lamwo, Pader and Agago.
Statistics from police in Aswa River Region show that more than 600 military explosives have been detonated by the army since 2010.
147 of the explosives were discovered in Pader, 166 in Gulu, 93 in Kitgum and 223 in Amuru district.
