Unexploded Ordinance Discovered in Agago
Unexploded ordinance was on Wednesday discovered in Baranaga Kuywe village in Omot sub county, Agago district.
The officer in charge of Omot police post Ben Ocaya said that the bomb was discovered by a farmer under a tree.
Deadly explosive remnants of war are still being found in several districts of northern Uganda after an end to the two-decade armed conflict between the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) and government in 2005.
Last month a Rocket grenade launcher was discovered in a garden in Cet-Kana village in Bungatira Sub County, Gulu District.
Meanwhile, a new report by US based advocacy group, Invisible Children indicates that LRA leader Joseph Kony’s authority over his Commanders has waned. The report is based on interviews with ex- LRA fighters.
According to recent defectors, Kony has lost control over some LRA commanders operating in the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Since 2006, UN has blamed Kony and his fighter killings and abductions of civilians in the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan.
