Uganda-South Sudan Trade Tumbles

Trade between Uganda and South Sudan has taken serious beating just days after the resumption of clashes between two warring parties in the capital, Juba.
The clashes pitted soldiers loyal to President Salva Kiir and his First Vice President and arch-rival Riek Machar.
South Sudan is Uganda’s Number One trading partner.
The clashes have greatly affected trade between the two countries.
Davin Angutia, a transporter at Arua Park, also business hub for most South Sudanese traders, says business has come to a standstill as traders are not coming and neither can they transport goods and passengers to South Sudan.
The top Ugandan exports to South Sudan include food, petroleum, motor vehicles re-exports, cement, steel materials, clothing, beverages, soap and detergents, and cooking oil.
