Uganda Cranes ace acquitted after assaulting police officer

It took the swift intervention of close friends to help absolve Uganda Cranes utility player, Dennis ‘Guma’ Oduggudde Iguma from charges of drink driving and assaulting a traffic police officer, Ronnie Kalyowa.

Iguma spent close to eight hours on Monday in detention at Entebbe Police Station after he was arrested for primarily drink driving as a first offence and then assaulting the police officer.

Iguma’s friends who included Murushid Jjuuko, a teammate at the Uganda Cranes, Kenneth Tumusiime and Ronald Kimbugwe, two former mates at Entebbe Young frequented the police station in desperate attempts to get him freed.

Friends and sympathizers collected Shs1.5M and he was granted freedom.
