Suspected armed Karamojong warriors on Tuesday raided Paimol Town council in Agago district and shot dead two UPDF soldiers.
The warriors, numbering about 22 and well-armed with assault rifles, also shot and injured four other people including a UPDF soldier. It’s alleged that the armed warriors entered Paimol Town Council at around 7:00pm and attacked a protected kraal where they also stole 30 heads of cattle.
According to reports, the victims including the dead UPDF soldiers were shot while pursing the worriers.
Emmanuel Okot, the Agago Resident District Commissioner, confirmed the incident, adding that all the 30 stolen cattle have been recovered.
Capt. Amos Nsamba, the UPDF 5th division Spokesperson, also confirmed the incident.
Meanwhile, despite heavy security deployment, armed South Sudanese worriers on Monday morning raided Agoro village in Lamwo district and stole 30 goats from a community kraal.
Geoffrey Orsbon Oceng, the Lamwo Resident District Commissioner confirmed the incident, adding that security have managed to recover six of the stolen goats.
Suspected armed attackers from South Sudan have been terrorizing residents in the sub counties of Agoro, Lukung, Putika and Madiopei since 2018.
