Two Born Again Christians Arrested For Assaulting Journalist
At least two members of Evangelical Ministry, a born again Christian church in Kal-pagimoro village, Atiak Sub County, Amuru district have been arrested on allegations of battering a local journalist attached to Mega FM in Gulu.
The duo, Acan Eveline, aged 25 and Atunga Richard aged 22, all residents of Kal-pagimoro village were arrested on Wednesday evening.
The duo and others still at large reportedly assaulted Okot Isaac on Wednesday accusing him of airing a story about their arrest for defying a ban by President Yoweri Museveni on public gatherings including churches following the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19)
The two were among 11 people including the head of the church Pastor James Amone who were arrested on Sunday after they were found congregating.
Jimmy Patrick Okema the Aswa regional police commander confirmed the arrest and condemned the act of the believers which he said is being investigated.
